Christmas 2022

We’ve had an amazing time at The Lanes this Christmas with our grotto and lots of festive entertainment. A huge thank you to all of the acts who have entertained us during November and December.

Our grotto was open for four weekends where families could visit Father Christmas and his Elves and raise money for two local charities. Thanks to the generosity of our visitors we are delighted to announce we have raised nearly £2,800 for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Children’s Hospice.

Eden Valley Hospice provides expert care to people from north Cumbria with life-limiting illnesses. The hospice’s dedicated staff care for patients in a home from home environment as well as offering a range of support to families.

At Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, children and young adults with life-limiting illnesses from right across the county can access day-to-day care, support and activities. Any funding received not only supports providing expert clinical care for children and young people in the Jigsaw building, but also helps families to make memories which will last a lifetime.

The Rainbow Elves, Rosie and Rhubarb from Rainbow Wishes Foundation, also made several weekend appearances to entertain shoppers and those waiting to see Santa.

Adding to the festive feel, each Saturday, we were joined by some fantastic roaming entertainers. From stilt walking nutcrackers and hula hooping Elves to a visit from the mischievous Grinch and Cindy Lou, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

We were also delighted to be able to host some amazing performances from local bands, groups and choirs. Thank you to everyone who performed including StagedRight, Cartmell Shepherd Choir, Raffles School Choir, the Cathedral Cantate Choir and the Border Concert Band.
